Chennai Super Kings had a dream start to IPL 2018 after their two year absence from the tournament. CSK was part to two thrillers, one home and one away, giving the fans their money’s worth.

But their joy turned in to despair when BCCI decided to move all CSK’s home matches to another location, due to their ongoing political issues in Chennai and the security threats that come with it.

BCCI and CSK team management have agreed on the MCA stadium in Pune as the new home ground for CSK, but this is just the tip of iceberg.

Latest sources have revealed that CSK were adamant on playing all their home matches at Brabourne Stadium at Cricket Club of India(CCI) in Mumbai.

However, the BCCI wasn’t really thrilled on having one city host home matches for two high profile IPL teams. MI’s home ground Wankhede Stadium will be also hosting 2 more matches of the qualification round, apart from all MI’s home matches.

BCCI have numerous stadium options that can entertain high profile IPL matches and in no condition will they allow a particular city to host two IPL teams.

“You can’t have 15 IPL matches in Mumbai alone. There are other cities as well, which can stage the matches. It was CSK, which was given the option to choose from the venues given to them. They only opted for CCI which is close to Mumbai Indians‘ home ground.” the source said.

BCCI offered CSK total of four options to choose from as their new home stadium which included,  Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Pune and Rajkot, as per TOI.

Since CSK’s request to play at CCI was rejected, they went for Pune as MS Dhoni has already played a lot of matches as Rising Pune Supergiant player in last two IPL seasons. MS Dhoni is very well liked there, like all parts of country.
