The release of Cyberpunk 2077 is just a few days away. However, for one to actually play the game, they will have to download an update file. This update cannot be delayed and the player will be asked to download the update first.
Why is the update necessary?
Our guess is that the update contains a patch for possible bugs in the game. However, with the launch just 2 days away, what kind of patches are needed? With a game as vast as Cyberpunk 2077, our guess would be as good as yours. The recent mad dash for compatibility of next-gen consoles could probably be the main reason.
How big is the update?
The 1st Cyberpunk 2077 update file size is estimated to be around 43.5 GB. An update of this size is more than most games out there. The original size of the game was 70 GB and the total length of the game is said to be 40-50 hours. So, an update of more than half the size of the game must mean that there is a pretty big change to the game.
The day one patch notes are yet to be released by CD Projekt Red. Not to mention that this won’t be the last update sent to us by CD Projekt Red. If you’re wondering how people got their hands on the game this quick. there are a few ways. One of them is prizing it off a retailer that is breaking the sale date of the game.

CD Projekt Red’s public relations manager confirmed the legitimacy of the tweet and said that this won’t be the update on the day-of-launch. This means that there will be another update that the players will have to download.
All of this translates to the fact that you will probably have to wait a little longer before playing the long-awaited game.
