The Spaniard has agreed a new five-year deal with the Premier League club, according to reports.

David De Gea may not have had the desired start to the world cup, but it hardly puts a doubt on his abilities as a goalkeeper. For years, the Spaniard has shined at goal for Manchester United, rescuing them many crucial points throughout the season.

And now, Manchester United are acknowledging his eccentric performances at the club with a five-year deal in place.

The club is set to receive a huge boost as their star goalkeeper has reportedly agreed a new five year deal, according to Manchester Evening News (MEN). De Gea signed a five-year deal with United in 2015, a few weeks after his move to Real Madrid collapsed.

Manchester United are keen to keep David De Gea at Old Trafford in the future, after his terrific performances at the goal has led him to win the club Player of the Year twice in the last three years. He was also the winner of the Golden Glove in the 2017-18 season.

According to Independent, the announcement for the same is “imminent.”

A new deal would mean that De Gea would remain at the club at least until 2023, when the Spaniard will turn 32. David De Gea joined Manchester Untied from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and has since won a Premier League title, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup with the club.

Earlier, David De Gea said in a press conference that Manchester United still needs to improve to pose a competition for trophies.

“There’s no lacking in winning titles there (Manchester United), we have to improve. We are a big club, we are not here to take second place. We have to improve and make this club great,” De Gea said.

Manchester United have already completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, and Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
