De Gea on title chances

De Gea on title chances: Manchester United goalkeeper has given his verdict on Manchester United’s title hopes.

Manchester United are currently 8th in the league after the side was held to another draw at Old Trafford by Arsenal. Mourinho’s side came from behind twice, as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Martial and Lingard scored the goals for United, but couldn’t salvage the much needed three points for the side. This was United’s third consecutive draw game in a row, and the side is winless in their last four league matches.

David de Gea has not been in the same form with which he performed for United over the years, emerging as one of the best in the business. In the game against Arsenal, de Gea was responsible for the first goal, as he failed to save the header from Mustafi.

The bar of expectation has raised so high that De Gea looks a shadow of his older self in this season. The goalkeeper has now commented on Manchester United’s current form, and their title chances.

De Gea on title chances:

The Manchester United goalkeeper has stated that it is ‘impossible’ to win the Premier League. However, he insisted that United is eyeing a Champions League qualification.

“It’s been a bad season so far for us to be honest,” De Gea said, as quoted by Mirror. “We’re in a poor league position. We’re Manchester United and we should be challenging for the title.

“We’re far behind and it’ll be impossible for us to win it, our aim is to qualify for the Champions League.”

De Gea, however, insisted that the players are behind the coach Jose Mourinho, and that the club will steer through in the right direction.

“He’s the coach. We all have to be united. The players, coaching staff and the coach. We’re all pulling in the same direction and moving forward together.

“There might be a lot of criticism of the coach, but the ones that go out on the pitch are the players, the ones that score the goals are the players and we all have to think about what we can do to improve.”

What next?

Manchester United will be up against Fulham on Saturday, as they make a desperate attempt to come back to winning ways.
