The highly anticipated Shield reunion was left in the dust when Dean Ambrose was ruled out of the ring for nine months. After he got injured, his tag team partner Rollins won the Raw Tag Team Championship with Jason Jordan.

Now, according to multiple sources, Ambrose will change his persona when he returns. It seems that Ambrose is going to evolve his gimmick completely.

Ambrose’s babyface run was stale, and his World Heavyweight Title match was highly condemned by the critics and audience alike. Ambrose is also blamed for not living up to his ‘Lunatic Fringe’ gimmick.

It has been rumoured that Ambrose was originally supposed to face Seth Rollins at this year’s Wrestlemania 34. It would’ve made perfect sense on a potential angle to turn Ambrose heel due to payback for what Rollins did to him back in 2014.

This story writes itself and could not only rejuvenate Ambrose’s career, but it could also give compelling material to Seth Rollins in case his babyface run starts to become stale as well.

Ambrose as a heel will be a great idea, as he may attack opponents with weapons, and attack them in an unhinged manner. The Asylum match may also return as Ambrose seeks to inflict more damage on his opponent.

A plethora of feuds will be waiting for Ambrose once he returns. Probably, he’ll rekindle his rivalry with AJ Styles. Rivalries with Roman Reigns and Finn Balor will also be exciting.

When Ambrose returns, he will likely be a heel, potentially attacking some major superstar. May be, 2018 will be the year of The Lunatic.
