Diego Costa red card: What Diego Costa did in dressing room after Barcelona red card

Diego Costa received a red card in the first half against Barcelona, as Atletico Madrid suffered a 2-0 defeat. A report has now revealed what he did in the dressing room.

Barcelona gained a major boost in their pursuit for a second consecutive La Liga title as they defeated Atletico Madrid 2-0.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi were on the target for Barcelona as the host side secured a late comeback again – this time, for a win.

Atletico Madrid pulled out an impressive performance after the side suffered a setback early in the first half. Diego Costa was sent off for dissent towards the referee in the 28th minute of the game, which aggravated the issues for Simeone’s men.

The side held Barcelona’s attackers for a large part of the game, but Luis Suarez finally broke the deadlock with a brave attempt from outside the box in the 85th minute. Messi doubled the lead a minute later.

Mirror, via reports from Spain, has now revealed what Diego Costa did in the dressing room after the red card.

What Diego Costa did after the red card:

English media outlet Mirror reports that Diego Costa burst into tears after the sending off.

The forward protested against a foul and failed to take charge of his emotions as he went on to abuse the referee. Costa further pushed the official even after the referee showed the red card.

Jan Oblak, the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, had to interfere to keep Costa away from the referee. Costa’s former Spanish teammate and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique accompanied the forward till the goal-line to console him and protect him from further action.

The red card proved costly for Atletico Madrid as the side conceded two late goals in the game, and conceded a further 3-point lead to Barcelona. The side’s hope of upsetting the Catalan giants to a La Liga title have all but ended with the loss.

Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid boss, however, was upbeat about the side’s season, stating that the players should be proud.

“Our season is not over,” he said. “We have won the European Supercup, we have played in the Champions League. This result is a negative, but we do not forget where we have come from.

“I believe that everything that happens to us will make us stronger.”
