Eden Hazard: Zinedine Zidane addresses possibility of Hazard and Neymar at Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane breaks silence on whether Neymar and Eden Hazard could play together for Real Madrid in the next season.

Real Madrid have had a dismal 2018/19 season. The club saw three managerial changes and another failure in the league campaign. In the Champions League, the Los Blancos suffered their first defeat in the knock-out stages since 2015 as Ajax beat them 4-1 at Santiago Bernabeu in the round-of-16.

To make things worse, Barcelona ousted Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Copa del Rey, and the Catalan giants are on course to win a second consecutive La Liga title as well. Barca have also reached the semifinal of the Champions League, where they face Liverpool.

Justifiably, Real Madrid is reported to have been making moves for the upcoming transfer window. Zinedine Zidane has stated that the club will have a busy summer, and many media outlets have reported that Real Madrid are set for a major squad overhaul.

Neymar, one of Real Madrid’s major transfer targets last summer, said in an interview recently that he has the desire of playing alongside Eden Hazard. The Belgian attacker has long been linked with a move to Real, and Zinedine Zidane has finally broken his silence over the rumours.

Zidane on Neymar-Hazard joining Real:

The Real Madrid manager has welcomed the possibility of the two superstars coming together to play at Santiago Bernabeu, but added that he doesn’t hold the sole power to take decisions at the club.

“Yes. A lot of players want to come here and play for Real Madrid, but let’s see what happens in the future,” began Zidane.

“Will I have plenty of power to decide on transfers and signings? No. I’m not even the boss in my own home! There are people here who are very important to the club that help make decisions and we want to make those together.

“The idea is to empower the attacking line for next season. Let’s see what we can do.”

Zidane was also asked on whether players like Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale could play in one team.

“Yes!” exclaimed the boss. “All the good players can play together. People told me that I wasn’t compatible with [fellow World Cup winner, Yuri] Djorkaeff. What a lot of nonsense, man!”
