Eder Militao has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and it was now been reported that the player is set to join the club soon.

Eder Militao joined FC Porto in the summer transfer window from Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

He has quickly established himself as one of the mainstays in the Porto’s first-team, making 31 appearances for the Portuguese side so far.

His impressive performances with Porto have generated significant interest from many European clubs. After months of speculations over his future move, it has now been reported that Real Madrid have succeeded in securing his services.

According to Marca, Real Madrid have an agreement over Militao’s transfer in the summer, with ‘only the signature remaining’.

Marca earlier reported that Real Madrid were monitoring the Brazilian defender. They also claimed that Real Madrid sent scouts to watch Militao play in Portugal.

The defender has reportedly drawn comparisons with former Real Madrid star Pepe, who also signed for Spanish giants from Porto in 2007. The Portuguese defender spent 10 successful seasons with Real Madrid before leaving the side for Besiktas.

Apart from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool were the two other clubs who had reportedly shown significant interest in the player.

Eder Militao is said to have a release clause in the region of 50m euros, which could go up to 75m euros in July this year.

The footballer is primarily a right-back, but can also play efficiently as a central defender or in a deep role in midfield.

Juventus’ Fabricio Paratici also scouted Militao during Porto’s Champions League game against Roma last week. Real Madrid, however, are not alarmed by his presence, according to Marca.
