2 Years After Splitting With Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas’ Girlfriend Criticizes Silver Arrows for Not Giving the Finn ‘A Chance’
Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton spent five years together at Mercedes when the British driver won four driver’s championships, leaving the Finn to play the second fiddle in the team. Now that Bottas left the Silver Arrows, his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell, as per Dutch Formule1, came out to hit out at his former team two years later.
The Finnish driver arrived at the team after Nico Rosberg won the 2016 F1 world championship and left the sport. Following his arrival in the team, he constantly helped Hamilton push through the grid towards the championship.

With them, Bottas won ten races and claimed multiple podiums. However, after the Silver Arrows decided to take George Russell as his replacement in 2022, the Finnish driver moved to Alfa Romeo. Bottas in Alfa Romeo is still to win a race or at least a podium. On the other hand, his replacement, Russell, won a race in Brazil last year.
Bottas’ partner slammed Mercedes amid cool life at Alfa Romeo
After Bottas moved to Alfa Romeo, it was a journey worth taking for the Finn. Apart from the hectic schedule of F1, the 34-year-old can also enjoy life to the fullest and go cycling with his girlfriend Cromwell in his free time.
The former Williams driver also took part in the Gravel race in Colorado recently, where he dressed up as Duffman from the Simpsons. As the Alfa Romeo life has been going decent for the 34-year-old driver, his girlfriend Cromwell, who has been an integral part of the driver’s life, came up to target the Silver Arrows.

Talking about how Mercedes did not give his partner a chance, she said, as per Dutch Formule1, “And at that time I often thought: ‘Give that guy a chance. At the beginning of the season, Valtteri and Lewis both had the same chances, but still, I know how difficult it is for Valtteri – or indeed for anyone – to give up a chance to win, as happened to him in Russia in 2018.”
How is Bottas performing at Alfa Romeo?
Valtteri Bottas has arrived at Alfa Romeo with vast experiences that he gathered in Mercedes. Apart from that, he also had impressive records at Williams prior to that. All these made the Finnish driver a sought-after talent on the team.
Coming into 2023, Bottas has delivered decent performances. Given how poor the Alfa Romeo challengers have been in terms of race pace, there was hardly anything the 34-year-old could do. Even his ten Grand Prix-winning experiences did not help, as his future in the team looks solid despite talks about having a fresh face in the team.
As the Finn had multiple DNFs this season, he stands in P15 in the drivers’ championship with six points. He leads his teammate Guanyu Zhou by two points, who is in P16 with four points. As for the team, Alfa Romeo stands at P9 in the Constructors’ championship with ten points.
