Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, former F1 driver Sebastian Vettel has once again taken to social media to spread awareness about climate change. Since retiring from the sport at the end of last season, the German revealed that he will now work towards promoting brands that are eco-friendly.
The 35-year-old seems to have stuck to his promise as he took to Instagram to inform fans about an organization that protects the oceans. He said that if fans were to purchase the Miami 2060 t-shirt, then they would be supporting Sea Shepherd, which is an organization that is ‘committed to saving the oceans and the climate’.
Sebastian Vettel also wore the Miami 2060 t-shirt at last year’s Miami GP
At the 2020 Miami Grand Prix, Vettel wore a Miami 2060 t-shirt to everyone’s surprise. The t-shirt contained an important message for all the fans as it read, ‘Act now or swim later’.

When asked by Sky Sports F1 to explain if he was trying to spread a political message by wearing this t-shirt, Vettel replied no (as quoted by si.com) before stating that his intention was to spread ‘a very human message’. He then went on to explain why he found it strange that F1 races in a place like Miami ‘that is not going to be there in 50 years’ time’.
He explained further by adding, “Sometimes the truth isn’t very nice. But it is still worth spreading if it is so serious and it will impact so many people, especially those people who cannot afford to maybe start over new. It should show us that we are in trouble, and we need to act now. Otherwise, there will be a lot of suffering“.
Vettel has taken part in several sustainability initiatives since his F1 retirement
