Amidst Shakira Dating Rumors, Lewis Hamilton’s “Keeper Boyfriend” Traits With Ex-girlfriend Jodia Ma Comes to Light

Lewis Hamilton has been all over the news recently, not so much for his performances on track but for what is happening in his personal life. F1 Twitter has come up with various theories over the past few days to suggest that the Briton is perhaps dating star Colombian singer Shakira.

Fans began by pointing out the various number of times Hamilton has recently interacted with Shakira. They began by pointing out the boat ride the two had together after the Miami Grand Prix. And just a few weeks after, they were seen having dinner together after the Spanish Grand Prix.

As these dating rumors continue to gain momentum, an old story about Hamilton’s love life has come to light. The 38-year-old gave a thorough account of his “keeper boyfriend” traits via a throwback he provided about his first girlfriend, Jodia Ma, in his autobiography: Lewis Hamilton: my story.

Via this short throwback, Hamilton demonstrated how much he cared for Ma despite breaking up with her. This is one of the very few times that the Briton commented upon his personal life as he has always preferred to just comment about his racing.

Lewis Hamilton once took a special break from F1 to visit Jodia Ma

Among all the sportspeople, F1 drivers perhaps have one of the busiest schedules because of how often they have to travel from one continent to another, depending upon where the next race is at. Despite having such a busy schedule, Lewis Hamilton once took a special break to Hong Kong during his rookie F1 year in 2007 to meet his ex-girlfriend Jodia Ma.

The Briton stated that he spent a few days at Ma’s house back then despite breaking up with her earlier that year. On meeting with Ma, Hamilton stated that the two went into town and also took a trip to Macau. He added that in Macau he visited the circuit he had raced at during his F3 career.

After providing an account of how the two enjoyed their time together, Hamilton revealed the reasons behind their breakup. “I had broken up with Jo in January, just before my birthday, when it was obvious that my schedule was not going to give me time to include her,” wrote the Briton in his autobiography.

Hamilton and Ma remained in touch despite breaking-up

Since Lewis Hamilton and Jodia Ma had an amicable break-up, they remained in touch even after splitting. The Briton believes that he made the right decision despite finding it extremely hard to “not having Jo around“.

Hamilton and Ma were in a relationship for four years, having first met at a party in London in 2003 during their college days together. The 38-year-old stated that he met Ma at the party through one of their close mutual friends, Mohammed.

Hamilton described Ma as someone who was “such a kind, considerate person“. After heaping praise about his ex-girlfriend, the Mercedes driver also revealed that he became so close to her family that they also sponsored his racing in Macau back in 2004.
