Best Friend Max Verstappen Advices Lando Norris to “Take Everyone Out” to Complete a Miraculous Comeback

Max Verstappen has often spoken about how Lando Norris is his best friend in the current F1 grid. That, however, didn’t stop the Dutch driver from giving Norris some hilarious and poor advice when the latter asked for it. In fact, Verstappen even asked Norris to crash into all the other cars on the opening lap in order to complete a last-to-first comeback.

Norris and Verstappen are both avid sim-racing fans. They have similar approaches to how they want to engage in that particular activity. Norris prefers to be relaxed, and have fun while taking part in sim races, and often streams for his fans. Competitively, he doesn’t take part in many tournaments unlike Verstappen, who takes it almost as seriously as Formula 1.

During one of Lando Norris’ live streams, the Briton’s chat asked him to call Verstappen up. They wanted the Red Bull ace to give his best friend some advice on how to win a race when you’re starting from last. The answer Verstappen gave, however, was absolutely hilarious.

Max Verstappen asks Lando Norris to take everyone out

Norris called Verstappen on a live stream after his fans requested him to. The McLaren star then asked the two-time world champion for some advice. He wanted to know how he could start a race from P20 and finish first. The video of this segment from Norris’ stream was shared on YouTube by SF1UHI.

The first part of Verstappen’s answer was unexpected, with the Red Bull ace asking Norris to turn off his computer and go watch a series. Norris found this extremely funny, and couldn’t control his laughter.

Next, Verstappen proceeded to answer the question Norris asked. “Alright, so don’t brake into turn one. Basically, take everyone out. Then I would do one lap in reverse. From there onwards, I would just fully send it into the pit-wall.”

It goes without saying that Verstappen was joking about his horrible advice to Norris. But it was a moment that both Norris and the fans found to be absolutely hilarious.

Verstappen and Norris’ close friendship

Out of all the driver in F1, Verstappen considers Norris to be is closest friend. They became friends in 2019 when the latter joined F1 with McLaren, and the bond has grown massively since then. According to Verstappen, Norris is someone who is always humble and being himself.

“I get on really well with Lando because he is just himself and normal. He is my best friend on the grid,” he said to the Daily Mail. “He loves what he is doing. I could see clearly from years ago in go-karting that he was very quick – though we never raced against each other. Everything just came to him really naturally as a driver.

In terms of racing, however, Norris and Verstappen are in really different places at the moment. Verstappen, the reigning two-time world champion is currently the hot favorite to defend his crown. Norris meanwhile, is struggling at the wrong end of the grid with an underperforming McLaren car.
