Despite Charles Leclerc and Co. Wearing Million Dollar Watches, Max Verstappen Sticks to Lucky $10,000 Timepiece

Formula 1 drivers like to spoil themselves with riches, except the world champion Max Verstappen, who recently appeared at the Miami GP with his $10,000 Tag Heuer Watch. On the other hand, his contemporaries like Charles Leclerc boast a $2 million Richard Mille timepiece.

But why is that? Verstappen once stated in a Tag Heuer video that he considers the ‘Monaco watch’ his lucky charm. To be fair, wearing it since 2021, Verstappen hardly has ever fallen in his F1 career.

“Last year, I got gifted Tag Heuer Monaco. For me, that was a lucky charm, I guess, throughout the year. Basically, I’ve worn it since I got it,  for the rest of the 2021 F1 season,” said Verstappen in a video by Tag Heuer in 2022.

Meanwhile, other drivers boast some highly expensive watches

The paddock is full of millionaires. But even after that, many don’t spend much on some of the luxury items. As they have sponsorships from some of the leading brands in the world.

Both drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz flaunt Richard Mille watches. The customized watches for the two F1 drivers are hailed as the thinnest watches in the world and cost around $2 million each.

Recently Leclerc even made news over his watch getting robbed. From a chase scene to police taking prompt action, the watch produced a Hollywood-level drama for the Monegasque.

Meanwhile, even Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton loves to boast some luxury watches in the paddock. In partnership with IWC, Hamilton arrives in the paddock with some rare pieces. In Miami, the seven-time world champion stepped in with an unreleased IWC watch called Lake Tahoe Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar. Forget about the price; IWC hasn’t even released the official images of it.

The lucky watch is working for Max Verstappen

The 2023 season start couldn’t have been better for Verstappen. He has already won three races in the first five races of the season and leads the championship by 14 points.

The Dutchman’s absolute brilliance in Miami isn’t a positive signal for Perez. For the first time, the Mexican race driver eyed his championship contention, but to keep up with Verstappen, he would need to win the next race.

However, right now, Verstappen is being seen as the title favorite. A couple of wins in a row could give him the entire championship momentum, quashing his teammate’s dreams.
