“Don’t give up”- Sergio Perez consoles Alex Albon after Red Bull snubs the Thai Born driver for the former in 2021 lineup.
Red Bull announcing the arrival of Sergio Perez for 2021 F1 season means that Alex Albon will be relegated to the position of reserve driver in the system, as the Austrian team confirmed that he will remain with them for next year.
But still, obviously, it was a heartwrenching decision for Albon emotionally, even if it was for the greater good for the team. Though Albon gave some promising performances in the last few races, clearly it was not enough.
Albon for long kept quiet after the announcement came out from Red Bull, but on Sunday, he finally broke the silence and expressed his disappointment.
“I can’t lie guys, it hurts, I gave it everything out there, but it wasn’t quite enough. I am not giving up, I’ve poured my life into this and I won’t let it stop here,” said Alex Albon.

Sergio Perez says just don’t quit
Despite Perez taking over Albon’s spot, he is clearly empathetic about what his predecessor is going through, as a few weeks ago he was at the same position when Sebastian Vettel replaced him at Aston Martin (formerly Racing Point).
“You’ll be back @alex_albon! You’re still very young and talented. Don’t give up,” commented Sergio Perez on the above quoted post by F1 Instagram handle encompassing Albon’s comments.
Christian Horner in the recent interviews commented that Perez’s recent performances lured Red bull into finally giving a contract to him, even though Alobon made some remarkable performances.
On the other hand, in pursuit of bringing Yuki Tsonuda into F1, the management couldn’t even choose to demote Albon to Alpha Tauri with Pierre Gasly for more run time.
