F1 Expert Thinks Lewis Hamilton’s F1 Movie Is a Set to Be a ‘Mess'

Formula 1 expert Tom Rubython has opined that the upcoming F1 movie, which is being produced by Lewis Hamilton is set to be an utter disappointment. The movie, which is yet to be named will star Brad Pitt but Rubython believes that the basic plot of the movie is poor.

The editor-in-chief of the Business F1 magazine wrote in the latest edition of the publication that “he’s more than a little concerned about the new movie.” Describing the plot of the movie, in which an old retired driver(played by Pitt) returns to mentor a young driver and helps him reach the top by overcoming struggles, Rubython said that it is a tried-out old plot that any fool could have thought of.

He argued that in no way a decent script could be assigned to this premise. Therefore, the fact that the script is not ready, is not surprising at all. “All in all it’s a recipe for disaster,” Rubython explained.

Rubython blames Liberty Media for the boring plot

In his opinion, the F1 expert also pondered upon why such a disaster of a premise is being given much attention in the paddock. Rubython said that Liberty Media owner Greg Maffei seems to be consumed by the glamour of such celebrities in Formula 1.

Furthermore, he said that while it is a great idea and F1 should not miss out on the opportunity on gathering a larger audience, more work needs to be done to ensure a Sylvester Stallone-type fiasco is skipped.

By the Sylvester Stallone-type fiasco, Rubython meant the current movie should avoid inaccuracy. In 2001, an F1 movie named ‘Drivers’ starring Stallone had been released. The movie did not fair well and was even bashed for being pretty illogical by F1 driver Esteban Ocon.

Lewis Hamilton has high hopes for the movie

Even though it is Hamilton’s new project, he is not nervous about it. Instead, Hamilton told the media (as quoted by Business Insider), “I have high hopes for it.” The F1 movie is being produced by Hamilton’s new production company, Dawn Apollo Films, and will be featured on Apple TV.

The Brad Pitt starter F1 movie is being directed by Joseph Kosinski known for his latest blockbuster ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’  Jerry Bruckheimer who produced Top Gun is also participating in the movie.
