F1 Fans Go Into Frenzy After Daniel Ricciardo Lights Up Met Gala With Anne Hathaway

F1 fans being excited about the Met Gala isn’t anything new, especially since Lewis Hamilton slayed the red carpet back in 2021. The seven-time world champion bought a whole table at the gala, for himself and several young black designers, to promote them. This year, however, it was Daniel Ricciardo, who lit up the stage.

Ricciardo arrived at the 2023 Met Gala in a black suit that fans all over the world seemed to love. When it was first revealed that the eight-time racer in F1 was traveling to the gala, fans were skeptical about his fashion choice, with Nini on Twitter joking that he would turn up in his Red Bull attire.

After celebrities from all over started turning up, fans were eager to see pictures of Ricciardo on the red carpet, and when they saw the Aussie, they were stunned. Ricciardo didn’t put too much effort into dressing him like his former counterpart Hamilton did two years ago. Instead, his simplicity earned him plenty of admirers, even at the gala itself.

Hollywood’s star actress Anne Hathaway and Daniel Ricciardo were seen in the same frame, and videos of the both of them talking to each other came up very soon. This sent the entire F1 community into a frenzy.

When Lewis Hamilton advocated for diversity at the Met Gala

Lewis Hamilton has been a regular figure at the Met Gala over the years and while he wasn’t a part of this year’s outing, he is known for stealing the show on several occasions because of his unique fashion style and fits. In 2021, however, he wanted the focus to be on other people.

Hamilton bought a whole table for himself, and some of the best young black fashion designers he came across. In this single stroke, Hamilton decided to combine his love for fashion and his advocacy for diversity into one.

“A lot of young brands and designers don’t have the same opportunities,” Hamilton said as quoted by Vogue. “So that’s what really set me off. The Met is the biggest fashion event of the year. And for this theme, I wanted to create something that was meaningful. And would spark a conversation.”

Daniel Ricciardo to drive F1 car in 2023

After losing out on his McLaren seat, Daniel Ricciardo was left on the sidelines for the 2023 season. He returned to Red Bull, and is currently the third driver for the team. His main duties include helping the team out on the simulator, in addition to appearing for marketing and commercial events.

However, Red Bull boss Christian Horner revealed that they will provide Ricciardo with an opportunity to get behind the wheel of an F1 car this year. Horner praised Ricciardo for the positive energy he brought into Red Bull upon his return, and hopes that he regains his confidence.

Talking to Sky Sports during Ricciardo’s home race weekend in Australia earlier this year, Horner said, “he’ll do a bit of testing for us later in the year and we’ll see how that goes for him.”
