F1 Fans Worried as Charles Leclerc Monaco Curse Strikes Before the GP Weekend

Charles Leclerc has not been the person to count on when it comes to racing at Monaco. Success has always seemed to elude him at his home circuit, despite his best efforts. And now it seems like the ‘Monaco Curse’ has caught up with him even before the start of the race. Leclerc fans were left embarrassed after the Monegasque ended up faceplanting himself onto the pitch merely 90 seconds into the annual charity football match at Monaco.

The Monaco Charity Football Match is a  game that has been played annually over the years leading up to the Monaco Grand Prix. In the 2023 edition of the football match, the team of F1 drivers was led onto the field by home hero Charles Leclerc. They faced an opposition team that was captained by tennis legend Novak Djokovic

Charles Leclerc had a very bad outing at the Monaco Charity Football Match

There were various Formula 1 drivers who represented the Formula 1 team at the charity match. This included Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz and Alpine driver Pierre Gasly. However, most of the eyes were on Leclerc. It is very well known that he doesn’t have the best of luck when it comes to racing at Monaco. Unfortunately, it seems like the Monaco curse is applicable to other sports as well.

The Monegasque ended up embarrassing himself after just 90 seconds into the game. He tripped and fell face-first onto the pitch. Even though the F1 team won the game 4-3, Leclerc did not really have the greatest of games. Formula 1 fans had mixed reactions to Leclerc’s antics on the football field.

Twitter user J Blogs mentioned how Charles Leclerc is messing up his form in Monaco even before the start of the Grand Prix weekend.

Another Twitter user posted a video of Leclerc narrowly missing the target and mentioned how the Monaco Curse had transferred over to football.

Another user, Rem, had a much different reaction to Leclerc’s match.

Ayush made a throwback reference to a famous interview with Leclerc from when he was a child.

Leclerc is a man of many talents

Leclerc has played football for the F1 team of drivers for quite some years now. However, that is not his only talent apart from driving. The Ferrari driver happens to be a brilliant pianist. It was very well known that he likes playing the piano during his free time. However, he took it to another level when he released two songs before the Australian and the Miami Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc also likes to play games during his free time and is pretty good at it. He is a member of the so-called ‘twitch quartet’ that comprises of him, Mercedes driver George Russell, McLaren star Lando Norris and Williams driver Alex Albon.

Heading into his home GP, Leclerc will be hoping to shake off the Monaco curse and get a strong result in the Principality in front of his friends and family.
