“He is already a world champion”– Paul Di Resta is highly amazed by Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s work in the 2021’s season.
Max Verstappen has been leading the championship with his glorious performances this year, and if the momentum doesn’t shift anywhere, Red Bull could be the first team to quash Mercedes’ unbroken Championship win streak.
Impressed by the Dutchman’s work on the track, Paul Di Resta has hailed him as a world champion, even though the 23-year-old race driver is leading the current championship, and yet to have one in his kitty.
“You would think that he is already a world champion, but this is his first time leading,” Di Resta explained at Sky Sports. “He has stepped up a gear and I think Red Bull has stepped up. Everything seems to be working very well.”
Red Bull has won every race since Monaco and looks strong to fetch more points than Mercedes at the same venue, where they won last week and could be considered their home.
The reverse of this is always on the cards
Despite the massive praise to Verstappen, Di Resta absolutely believes that Mercedes can still make a comeback from here, and the points difference between Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen is still recoverable.
“It can swing the other way, but I would say that he is in the form of his life. You can see all calm and collected (in the Red Bull-garage)”, Di Resta concludes.
However, Red Bull looks at their strongest for the first time since 2013, and are at the best position in recent years to seal the championship, which is their ultimate aim for this year.
Whereas, Mercedes have refused to give much focus to its 2021 car, considering 2022 regulations are highly complicated and need resources in that project, but recent reports have now contradicted this.
