“He’s F1 world champion material” – Ross Brawn is confident George Russell will become an F1 world champion after his brilliant show at the Sakhir GP.
George Russel had a majorly disappointing Sakhir GP after looking set to win his maiden F1 race. Mercedes engineers and pit crew, known for their perfection, messed up in the only race Lewis Hamilton was not racing. Nonetheless, Russell has received high praise from F1’s MD Ross Brawn, who believes George should be proud of his performance.
“George should be very positive about this weekend, despite the disappointing final result. He delivered an exceptional performance in pretty challenging circumstances.”

“I always thought he was a good Grand Prix driver. We’ve commented before how good he has looked, but you never know if he has that last little bit of speed that marks you out as a brilliant driver.”
“A star is born” in George Russell
George Russell is a shoo-in to become the future F1 world champion, something Brawn agrees to. The Brit was heartbroken to see his greatest moment ever slip away due to his team’s fault. Fans across the board are hoping Lewis Hamilton stays out of the season-finale at Abu Dhabi, allowing Russell another shot at the top of the podium.
“George demonstrated that he has got that extra little bit – and a star is born.”
“There is now no doubt that he’s F1 world champion material. He didn’t make any mistakes in a challenging situation and all the problems were the team’s, not his. And he drove impeccably until he had the win taken away.”
“He will be very frustrated not to have won but I don’t think he should be. He’s registered on the scale now. Any doubts anyone had, will be gone. Clearly, he’s exceptional.”
