Lando Norris Podium Celebration: How did Lando Norris celebrate on the podium after he finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the Austrian GP?
Lando Norris was the talk of the F1 world after grabbing a podium position in the Austrian GP, and then following it up with a unique celebration.
Lando Norris had a tremendous start to the F1 2020 season, grabbing his first-ever podium at the Austrian GP. He went full throttle on the last lap, and finished 4th. But Lewis Hamilton got a 5-second penalty, which dropped me to 4th from 2nd.
To ensure the podium, he had to get in the five seconds of Lewis, and he eventually did. Ably supporting him in that was his race engineer Wil Joseph. He was guiding the young driver throughout the last few laps. That is when the ‘Scenario 7’ radio instruction was first heard. It was great teamwork, and a thoroughly deserved podium for Lando and McLaren.
A Unique podium celebration
The visibly excited Norris had a gala time at the podium, even opening the champagne bottle in a very unique way. He slammed the champagne bottle on the group to open it, and it worked. So, during the press conference, he was told about an incident in MotoGP where Celestino Vietti injured himself while trying to emulate Norris. Vietti had to get multiple stitches as a result of it.

Norris had words of advice for the young Vietti: “He obviously made a mess of it. The only thing I noticed that they have Prosecco bottles, so I don’t know if that plays any difference. That’s the only thing I can blame it on.
“I’ve never broken a bottle in the number of times that I’ve done it, and I’ve done some fairly aggressive ones.”
It just goes to show that this rising star is not just a brilliant F1 racer, but also a man of many talents. He is an extremely popular character, and with Daniel Ricciardo partnering him at McLaren next season, it is expected to be a laugh riot on the F1 paddock.
