"I don't really read F1 related media reports" - Valtteri Bottas is unconcerned by Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne to Williams links

“I don’t really read F1-related media reports” – Valtteri Bottas is not bothered by comments made by Toto Wolff that Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne are ready to compete in F1 next season.

Former F2 champion Nyck de Vries and former McLaren F1 driver Stoffel Vandoorne are currently driving for the Mercedes E team. They have been pretty impressive, which has led Mercedes boss Toto Wolff to suggest they deserve to be in Formula 1.

If they hypothetically are to get in a team next season, it would most likely be Williams. And if either of the two is offered the seat, Mercedes will not come in the way, Wolff has confirmed.

“Both drivers have the talent and the work ethic and the intelligence to be in Formula 1. They both deserve to be Formula 1 and I would very much hope they can find their way back.”

Bottas admits not too many seats left

If the aforementioned happens, it will rule out Bottas’ return to Williams, after he is shown the exit by Mercedes. But the Finn sounds unconcerned by it, despite admitting there are very few seats up for grabs for next season.

“I am not aware of those sayings [Vries and Vandoorne to Williams]. I don’t really read F1 related media reports so it is the first time I hear anything like that.

“Of course, you will always try to praise your drivers, whether it is in different categories and they are very good drivers.

“There are not many seats in F1 but it is not really my concern at the moment and is nothing that is on my mind.”
