"I gave not 100 per cent but 200 per cent"– Charles Leclerc dejected after British GP defeat to Lewis Hamilton

“I gave not 100 per cent but 200 per cent”– Charles Leclerc shows disappointment after losing to Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone.

After all the penalties and obstacles, Lewis Hamilton managed to win the British Grand Prix for the record eight-time in his career. However, for the most part of the race, Charles Leclerc was leading the race.

But Hamilton coming back to the front seemed inevitable, though Leclerc tried his best to defend his position until he went out of the track, and it slowed him down, leaving an easy way out for the Briton.

After that, Leclerc was not able to hide his disappointment with himself and ranted on his radio. He was, in the end, consoled by his race engineer and was soon made realize that even P2 is an impressive result for Ferrari.

“It’s difficult to enjoy 100 per cent. Of course, it has been an incredible race. I gave not 100 per cent but 200 per cent. I gave all of me but it was just not enough in the last two laps,” said Leclerc during the post-race interview.

“Congratulations to Lewis, he did an incredible job. It’s amazing to see so many fans in the grandstand. We definitely did not expect it. We have been fighting for the win, which is incredible.”

Lewis Hamilton with a perfect comeback

Hamilton’s compatriot Jenson Button was mightily impressed by Hamilton’s return to the glory after the initial setback, and after serving the pitstop penalty, he was unstoppable.

“It’s never nice when you’ve been involved in an incident and get a 10-second penalty, but the comeback was fantastic. He’s obviously racing against Charles in the Ferrari, and there’s a pace difference, but still he was on it every lap and it really took his breath away.”

“You could tell when I was interviewing him. It was a proper physical race for him.”
