"I will be able to fight for world championships"- Daniil Kvyat reveals what he needs to be a top F1 driver

“I will be able to fight for world championships”- Daniil Kvyat says that he would be able to challenge for the title if given a good car.

Daniil Kvyat is set to be ousted by Alpha Tauri to accommodate Yuki Tsunoda in the team in 2021. But the Russian driver claims that he still has a lot to give to F1.

But now, he is going to race for the Red Bull associated team at Abu Dhabi, with his future endeavours still unknown and certainly not going to be in Formula 1.

“I still feel I have a lot to give in F1. I know that if the opportunity comes I will be able to fight for world championships, that’s for sure, so it’s just about timing. Sometimes the timing was great in my career; sometimes it was very poor.” said Kvyat as per the Autosport.

“It’s very good that I managed to show this very strong weekend now, at the end of the year, so it is fresh in people’s memory, and I can have a go-to come back with somebody in 2022.”

Couldn’t pounce on Sakhir GP opportunity

The chaotic race in the Sakhir Grand Prix landed Kvyat in the 7th place, usually not a bad result, but considering two Racing Point cars and Esteban Ocon finished on the podium, Kvyat could have aimed for better.

Kvyat this season has failed to get any podium, and his best position this season has been 4th during the Italian Grand Prix, where his teammate Pierre Gasly recorded his first career victory.

“It was a very strong race, the strongest race of the year for me [but] the luck wasn’t there, just the timing. Some other guys, they risked, but we didn’t have a chance to risk, we had to follow our plan.

“I am very happy with my driving. Of course, when you see Racing Point and Renault on the podium and we know we’ve been quicker, I feel a bit disappointed not to have an opportunity to fight for it.

“But we did everything right, it was one of those days when it just didn’t quite work but we still did a solid job to bring home solid points.” he concluded.
