“I’m going there for business" - Daniel Ricciardo shots down suggestions of a "meme power couple" with McLaren teammate Lando Norris

“I’m going there for business” – Daniel Ricciardo has asserted he is going to be much more than a “meme power couple” with McLaren teammate Lando Norris.

Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris are going to be a blast as McLaren teammates this season – both on and off the track. The talented duo is known for their hilarious actions, which mostly involves them taking each other’s case.

But the Aussie has suggested he is going to McLaren to help them improve from their P3 performance last season. Lando Norris is the same and has been brilliant since stepping on to the  F1 scene. He took his first podium in the season-opener last season and was an able partner to Carlos Sainz.

“It’s not going to be a comedy show. I’m going there for business, I’m going there to improve the car.

“My personality won’t change so I think I do enjoy doing what I do… but I’m certainly not going there to be this meme power couple or whatever it’s described as these days!”

Daniel Ricciardo happy with Renault stint

Ricciardo has also expressed satisfaction with his two-year stint at Renault, which includes podiums last season. The French team very crucially finished above their Italian rivals Ferrari last season, with Ricciardo playing a big part in it.

“I can honestly leave here feeling fulfilled. I think importantly for myself feeling like I contributed something back to this team. Really it was the podiums, and just to see the joy not only on my face but also on the team’s face. It had been so long.”
