“I’m happy to help, but I think it’s very important for him to find his own path”- Sebastian Vettel on Mick Schumacher
“I’m happy to help, but I think it’s very important for him to find his own path”- Sebastian Vettel on Mick Schumacher’s tryst with F1 career.
Sebastian Vettel is expected to be a mentor to Mick Schumacher, who is his compatriot and son of his erstwhile mentor Michael Schumacher. The 4 times World Champion has promised to provide any help to the F2 Champion.
However, at the same time, Vettel has also warned that the young driver has to seek his own way in the sport, as there will be a time, he may have to rely on his own judgements.
“I’m happy to help where I can because he’s a great guy and obviously I have a very special connection to his father,” Vettel said when asked by Autosport about Schumacher’s arrival in F1.
“It’s a shame that Michael is not able to witness Mick’s progression in the last few years and his step now into Formula 1. I really like him, we get along well and I’m happy to tell him everything that I know.”
“Well, I’m flattered obviously. I watched his father win a lot more races than he could have watched me win. I’m happy to help, but I think it’s very important for him to find his own path and follow his own way.” said Vettel.
“But surely as much as it helped when Michael had some things to say when I asked and gave me advice, I’m trying to do the same to him. The way I see him as a person, where I can help him in his life, or on-track with some of the things that I went through in my career.”
Ferrari preparing Mick for themselves
Just like Vettel and Michael, Mick may end up at Ferrari, as the giants of F1 has been investing in the young prospect since a while and expect him to be ready in the foreseeable future.
On the other hand, Ferrari has parted ways with Sebastian Vettel after the end of this season, and the German will now be competing for Aston Martin from 2021.
