Lewis Hamilton Hails Brother Nicolas Hamilton After British Vogue Feature

Lewis Hamilton and his brother Nicolas, are very close and share a deep love for racing. Born with cerebral palsy, Hamilton’s brother never thought he could make it in the world of racing as he was wheelchair-bound until the age of 17.

However, after multiple surgeries and several physiotherapy sessions, he tried his trade in karting. That is when Nicolas Hamilton decided he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his legendary brother and pursued a career in racing.

Recently, he was featured in British Vogue magazine, where he spoke about overcoming the difficulties he faced because of his disabilities. Lewis Hamilton took to his Instagram account to hail his brother, and let him know how good he looked and that he was proud of him.

Nicolas Hamilton on overcoming disability to become a racing driver

In the Instagram post for British Vogue, Nicolas Hamilton talks about him being a racing driver, and having problems because of his disability. Firstly, like all the other people’s features, he talks about his attire.

“I’m sitting here as a mixed-race male,” the 31-year-old says. “Black hair, brown eyes. I’m currently wearing a white jacket with black trousers and black and white trainers.”

He goes on to talk about his disability and how it affected him. He was born two months premature, and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which kept him in a wheelchair for very long. Looking up to his brother as an inspiration, Nicolas always wanted to race but definitely believed that it was near impossible for him to make it as a driver.

After turning 18 years, he became stronger and was able to walk. It was then that he drove his first race car and realized his dream of becoming someone he always dreamt of being.

“I made it my goal to ignore anyone that said that I couldn’t do anything,” he added. “I tried to prove them wrong.”

Lewis Hamilton and his brother’s inseparable bond

Nicolas Hamilton endured a very difficult time at school because of his disability, and the other kids often picked on and bullied him. However, he cites Lewis as an inspiration and has often described how much he helped him get through difficult times in school.

Hamilton always supported his younger brother and helped his racing career kickstart. Because of his cerebral palsy, he has to race in a specially modified car but that has never stopped him for working hard and giving his best on the track.

In the British Vogue Instagram post, he also adds that he thinks his main purpose in life now is to do good for others.
