Max Verstappen participated in the virtual 24 hours of Nurburgring with Team Redline and live-streamed it on his Twitch account. But to do so, the Dutchman had to ditch his girlfriend Kelly Piquet’s best friend’s wedding in Portugal.
While the 2-time F1 world champion delivered a fun and spectacular watch for his fans, he did not miss the opportunity to call out his sim racing buddy for making him miss a wedding. In a video posted on Twitter, Verstappen ratted out his friend and said, “By the way guys, I am doing this race because Chris was complaining he had too many exams to participate in.”
Verstappen’s friend Chris who was available during the live stream defended himself saying, “Yeah, if I would have raced, I’d have to work up 5 hours of…”, but before Chris could finish his argument, Verstappen snapped at him saying, “I canceled a wedding for it.”
Left in stitches with Verstappen’s argument, Chris asked the Dutchman if attending a wedding is what he’d be doing rather than sim racing. To which, Verstappen said, “I love sim racing but sometimes you know you have to think about the greater good.”
Kelly Piquet came home to a surprise gift by Max Verstappen
Verstappen’s girlfriend Kelly Piquet filled her Instagram feed with lavish pictures of his best friend’s wedding in Portugal. Meanwhile, the internet was also flooded by the royal wedding of Lance Stroll’s sister Chloe’s wedding.
While there is no absolute confirmation about which wedding is Verstappen talking about, one of the fans, Nini, on Twitter revealed that it was the wedding in Portugal.
Although, if that was the case, there’s a good chance that the surprise gift that Piquet revealed to her fans could be an apology from Verstappen. Amidst the Insta feed which was filled with pictures of the wedding, Piquet put up a story revealing a big beautiful bouquet of roses that she received from her boyfriend. She captioned, the story, “Made it home to find this.”
Max Verstappen seemed to be annoyed by Penelope
Max Verstappen seems to have a close and adorable relationship with his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter Penelope. But a recent snippet of Verstappen’s Twitch live stream showed the Dutchman getting a bit annoyed by the little P.
As Verstappen focused on his game, Penelope was seen distracting him with a toy. At first, Verstappen ignore the little P and continued with his race, but later on, when Penelope put the toy in front of his face, he pushed it away.
