Max Verstappen once decided to make his dream Formula 1 team when asked and the choices were a bit surprising to many. While there weren’t any doubts as to why he picked Lando Norris, it was interesting of him to choose Fernando Alonso.
While Charles Leclerc is often regarded as a very close friend of the Dutch driver, he still didn’t make the cut. Leaving him aside, drivers like George Russell, Alex Albon, and his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo also weren’t on the list.
Plus, t’s not really clear why the Dutchman didn’t go for Sebastian Vettel or Lewis Hamilton. These two have been incredibly dominant in the last decade with 11 world titles between them. It was a debatable decision from the defending champion, sparking widespread debate.
Max Verstappen picked Alonso and Norris for the dream team
According to a recently surfaced video on Instagram, the two-time world champion was asked to pick his dream team when he appeared for an interview with Mobil 1 The Grid. As he searched for an answer, he said he found it really hard to find one because there are lots of good drivers.
Following this, he stated that he would like to go with Alonso as a part of his team. The reason behind this, as given by Verstappen, was the sheer experience the 41-year-old holds. With two world championships on the bag, Alonso is the oldest and the most experienced driver on the grid.

To fill the second slot, he chose a young gun, Norris. The McLaren driver has been a close companion of Verstappen’s for a long time. Furthermore, it’s no secret what the McLaren star can do if he’s given a good car.
Admittedly, picking Norris, who is known as Verstappen’s best friend on the grid, made sense. They have been spending a lot of time both on and off the track during the course of a season. On multiple occasions, the duo admitted to being close to each other.
Who was the team principal of the dream team by Verstappen?
Every sporting team needs a team principal or manager. When it comes to the dream team, there has to be a team principal and there are no marks for guessing who the 25-year-old picked to be the boss.
Talking about this, Verstappen stated, “Well, of the current people. I think who are capable of being the team principal, I would always go for Christian.”

This choice makes absolute sense as Max Verstappen has worked with Horner since his Red Bull debut and knows his boss thoroughly.
Moreover, Horner is regarded as one of the most successful Formula 1 team principals to date. The 49-year-old, who joined Red Bull in 2005, is still the boss of the Austrian team and enjoyed enormous success in his long stint, winning five constructors’ championships with them.
