Next to 2-time world champion Max Verstappen, your career "just ends", believes Dutch racing expert

Earlier this month, Lando Norris revealed that he was in talks with the Red Bull F1 team to take a seat next to Max Verstappen, but he instead chose to stay with McLaren.

Dutch racing expert, Tom Coronel believes that the Briton made the ‘right choice by doing so. Norris has a long-term contract with the Woking-based team until the end of 2025 and he is the leading driver of the team.

Speaking to Formule1.nl, coronel said that if Norris had taken a seat next to Verstappen, he would have gotten the same treatment as everyone else. “Next to Max, your career just ends,” the 50-year-old further stated.

Previous teammates of Max Verstappen

The Dutchman, who has now been crowned with 2-world championship titles has had many teammates ever since his debut. But except for one[Daniel Ricciardo], Verstappen has not had any teammates that have been able to outperform him.

Talking to Formule1.nl, Coronel is referring to those other teammates. Red Bull juniors just like Verstappen himself, Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, both failed to live up to their racing potential and were demoted either to the sister team[Gasly] or to the position of reserve driver[Albon].

Even his current teammate Sergio Perez has failed to present consistent competition to the 25-year-old in his two-year stint with the Red Bull team.

Verstappen has proven himself to be a tough driver to beat and therefore Coronel believes that Norris was wise not to team up with the Dutchman.

Max Verstappen doesn’t feel the need to share his private life

Verstappen’s posts on his social media accounts come only a handful of times a month and it is quite likely that even those posts are managed by some agencies.

Asked if he is planning to change that about himself in the future, the 2-time world champion replied that he doesn’t feel the need to share his private life with his followers.

He even stated that his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, also does it much less than before. Some people have a lot of free time, but unlike them, Verstappen has a lot on his plate, he explained.
