“The Duality of Man”: Fans Blasted “Hypocrite” Toto Wolff for Calling F1 “Boring” Over Red Bull Dominance

The fans on Twitter gave Toto Wolff a hard time after his recent comment on Red Bull’s dominance. The Mercedes boss urged Formula 1 to prevent “boring races” like Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend, to which the fans slammed the Austrian executive.

Speaking to the media after the race, Wolff stated that there was no overtaking, despite having a big pace difference. The race had no great entertainment and the sprint race was also questionable, with hardly any positives to take out, the Mercedes honcho shared.

The 51-year-old went on to share that without Max Verstappen and George Russell’s tussle at the beginning of the Sprint race, there was no significant action to note down. The F1 should look at such things and take measures to avoid such “boring” races in the future, Wolff concluded, as per The Guardian.

Admittedly, the recently concluded Baku race has been another dominating weekend for Red Bull Racing. This has been their fourth win and third 1-2 finish of the season, as they took another giant leap in the constructors’ championship.

What did the fans say?

The fans were not happy with the Austrian’s comment. They called out the billionaire on the internet.

Given below are some of the reactions taken from Twitter:

Why did the fans slam Wolff and call him a hypocrite?

The fans on Twitter mostly pointed out the years of immense dominance by the German team in Formula 1. Notably, from the year 2014 to 2020, the Silver Arrows were untouchable.

With Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, and Nico Rosberg in the wing, Wolff spent a good chunk of the last decade dominating the Formula 1 circuit with seven drivers’ as well as constructors’ championships.

Now, being the same man who saw such huge dominance and success for so long, complaining against the same kind of supremacy by a rival felt kind of “hypocrisy” to the fans.
