"There’s never going to be another Fernando Alonso"- Carlos Sainz doesn't want to emulate his idol

“There’s never going to be another Fernando Alonso”- Carlos Sainz on having identical career path to his idol and compatriot Fernando Alonso.

Carlos Sainz has never hidden the fact that he wholeheartedly admires Fernando Alonso. When the former signed for Ferrari this year, it was pointed out that Sainz has an identical career path as Alonso.

However, Sainz has clarified that he doesn’t aspire to be like Alonso, as there has been only one Fernando Alonso, and there will never be another of him.

“First of all, it’s tricky because I’ve already been at Renault, but I didn’t get the two world championships,” he said to GPFans. “But what I know is that one day I want to fight for a world championship, and I want to get myself into that position as quickly as possible and as early as possible because I feel ready for the challenge.”

“He’s been an extremely strong driver, but there’s never going to be another Fernando Alonso, he was the first one, the pioneer in many ways, and I’m just trying to make my own career, my own way of doing things, of seeing things, of driving and I’ll see where that gets me.”

Fernando Alonso recovered

Alonso is set to return in F1 with Alpine in 2021 and would be dawning the colours of the rebranded French team in Bahrain. However, a month before the test session, Alonso met with an accident.

Though, the Spaniard was reported to be fine and has almost recovered from injuries. Moreover, it was informed way early that he would be easily available for Bahrain.

Alonso has earlier competed with Sainz, but recently he talked about the possibility of ending on the podium with him, and he feels that it would be an honour for the 39-year-old race driver.
