“We are being quite open with each other” – Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz learning from each other
“We are being quite open with each other” – Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are enjoying each other’s company, and learning from each other along the way.
Ferrari are over their disappointment from last season, as they now look to overtake McLaren into the Top 3. Key to it is the chemistry between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, and going by Leclerc’s words, he is very pleased with what he is getting out of the former McLaren driver.

Sainz learning a lot from Leclerc
“Carlos drives very differently to how Seb was driving last year. It’s always very interesting to see him work with the engineers, the way he works, and his view on things. I am definitely learning a lot from him.”
Sainz feels the same, having more to learn from the Ferrari star. This is evident from the current driver’s standings, with Leclerc’s 28 points double of what Sainz has accrued so far. The Spaniard missed out on points at Portimao due to a wrong strategy call, but is ready to brush that aside and continue to help Ferrari deliver.
“I have learned quite a lot from Charles just in the way to do some corners and to apply a certain driving style or to go in a set-up direction then come back and try a different one. There’s always things to learn.
“Up until now, to be honest, we are being quite open with each other and that makes things good and healthy in the team. We are going to keep pushing in that direction and keep learning.”
“This race was my first difficult race with Ferrari, my first difficult Sunday where things didn’t go to plan. There will be a lot of thinking, a lot of analyzing, a lot of self-criticism and trying to see what we can do better for the future and keep improving. It’s a steep learning curve that I am on right now and [that] needs to continue.”
