“We have nothing mysterious”- Red Bull explains why there are only few photos of RB16B
“We have nothing mysterious”- Red Bull chief Helmut Marko dismisses the accusations that his team is hiding a few things.
Red Bull is set to challenge Mercedes this year with its new RB16B, revealing it earlier this week. Red Bull has only published limited material related to it.
Hence, it attracted harsh criticism against Red Bull, as they haven’t released any detailed oriented photos of the car till now, and accusing the Milton Keynes based team that the team is hiding something.
Helmut Marko immediately came to his team’s rescue and said that Red Bull is not hiding something; rather, it is only focusing on testing its new car, as the time before it finally runs in Bahrain is short.
“Time was a bit tight to do photoshoots. Driving was more important to us than taking photos. We have nothing mysterious in the car. No six wheels, no fan in the rear either”, jokes the honorary citizen of Graz.
Marko continues: “The car is a consistent further development of last year’s model. The goal is to be able to compete for victories right from the start. At the first tests in Bahrain, we will run all the parts on the car that will also be used at the season debut.”
Marko then also warns about making judgements about Red Bull from Bahrain tests only. “We know that fuel quantities and engine settings are played with during the tests. Therefore, the true potential will only be seen in the first race.”
Difficult to drive
It has been alleged that the Red Bull car is heavily oriented to Max Verstappen’s suitability, and therefore other drivers struggle with it. Sergio Perez has also hinted at the difficulty level of this car.
“The car has a lot of potential but is completely different to drive. Especially at the rear. Anyway, I already know why not every driver has been able to handle it in the past.”
