“We just have to keep on going” – Max Verstappen issues rallying cry to Red Bull after Styrian GP win
“We just have to keep on going” – Max Verstappen is delighted with his Red Bull team after winning the Styrian Grand Prix comfortably, piling on the pressure on Mercedes.
Max Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix to extend Red Bull’s winning run to four seasons. More crucially, this is the longest winless run for arch-rivals Mercedes in the turbo-hybrid era.
Red Bull recently brought developments, which is clearly benefitting Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez. The race winner was very happy, especially with Red Bull’s advantage after Lewis Hamilton’s first pit stop.
“Straight away I felt a good balance in the car and it was good to manage the tyres basically from the start. I felt like, to the end, I also had tyres left.”
“Of course they pitted one lap earlier than us. We reacted to that and then we just kept on going, trying to hit our lap times. That worked really well today.”

Red Bull extend lead over Mercedes
With Sergio Perez finishing in P4, Red Bull extended their lead over Mercedes by a further three points. Meanwhile, Verstappen has an 18 points lead over Lewis Hamilton in his quest for a maiden world championship.
Both drivers square off again in the Red Bull Ring next weekend, with Hamilton under pressure to recover from his winless streak. He has demanded upgrades from Mercedes, who seem to have yielded the title to Red Bull already.
“That’s very positive. But of course, we have to show it again next week, so we’ll definitely have a look at what we can do better. I’m looking forward to it next week. We just have to keep on going, keep pushing really hard, and then I’m confident that we can do a very good job.”
