What is scenario 7 in F1: What part it played in Lando Norris's huge strides in final two laps?

What is scenario 7 in F1: What part it played in Lando Norris gaining huge acceleration in the Styrian Grand Prix race to end at 5th position.

Lando Norris had a phenomenal start to the season, as he rocked the Spielberg track with stellar performances, first taking his maiden career podium in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Then picking crucial points from the 5th position at the Styrian Grand Prix. Overall, the 18-year-old racer has performed beyond expectations so far and been better off his Ferrari bound teammate Carlos Sainz.

The final two laps by Lando Norris were phenomenal when he was seen competing in the triple threat challenge by Lance Stroll and Daniel Ricciardo.

The British driver phenomenally overpowered both of them and also went up to overtake Sergio Perez, who lost a huge amount of race by the end of the race.

During this moment, Norris was heard communicating with his team, and his Race Engineer kept reiterating Scenario 7 and Scenario 8 in the last two laps and it is believed it surely played a crucial role in Norris’ performance.

What is scenario 7 in F1? Is Scenario 8 an upgrade

Although there is no confirmation, like every team, this seems to be a codeword between the team and the driver indicating when to push for the full power of the engine.

Most probably, these are mappings that determine the power output and blend of power (from the ICE or ERS), ‘Scenario 7’ should most likely mean a push for the maximum, just as strat 6 for Mercedes, mode 7 for Honda and K2 for Ferrari.

Then what is ‘Scenario 8’? Most likely, it is the step ahead from ‘Scenario 7’, as the race engineer only mentioned it during the last lap and meant to give the full power of the engine.

Since such things are only useful for short bursts and can’t be viable for the long term action because of the power utilized, the team asked him to do it in the end.

But surely, an impressive tactical play by the team McLaren and phenomenal lap by Norris, who once again recorded the fastest lap in the final lap.
