Faze Among Us Tournament: Why did Toast, Pokimane, Corpse & co not play?

The Faze Among Us Tournament named “In-vent-ational” did not feature major Among Us streamers like Toast, Pokimane or Corpse! But why?

Among Us: A game that never ceases to surprise!

Ever since its surge in popularity about 2 months ago, Among Us has had a reputation for being a fun, relaxed game. Sure, it can get intense at times but nobody ever expected anything competitive to come out of it. And yet, the game has been gaining rapid traction in the competitive circuit.

Many amateur regional tourneys have also popped up worldwide. So, it was little surprise when Faze Clan hosted the first-ever professional Among Us Tournament yesterday. With about $25k on the line, millions of viewers tuned in on Twitch to watch the Faze Among Us Tournament and the affair was a very intense one!

The Big Question about the Faze Among Us Tournament!

However, one question remained on the tip of everyone’s tongue! Where were Disguised Toast, Pokimane, JackSepticeye, Valkyrae, Corpse or the other members? At first, it was indeed surprising not to find many of our favourite content creators out there. But we seem to have figured out the reason!

The possible reasons.

But, before we begin to enlist them, let us, in the spirit of fairness, mention that this is conjecture. By that we mean, these creators haven’t explicitly mentioned or agreed to any of what we presume below. However, the assessment we make is far from groundless. It is based on their past comments and confessions.

There are many possible factors that could go into a creator opting out of a tournament. However, availability, interest and necessity are three factors common to all.

Toast & the Fun Factor.

One thing that Toast has said again and again in his streams is that he strictly plays for “fun”. Winning is secondary for him as long as he has a wholesome experience. And we have seen him, true to his word, play in this casual, friendly manner again & again. He lets new players get away with errors & often trolls at the risk of getting voted of in-game. He has even explicitly stated how important the “fun factor” is to his game. So, therein lies a major reason for why Toast may not have chosen to play in a competitive tourney. Also, we’d like to add that what we put down about Toast here applies to his Among Us gameplay only. So, they are not relevant to Hearthstone or the other games he plays.

Pokimane, Corpse & Valkyrae.

This same reason maybe also be why Corpse, Valkyrae & others chose not to participate in the event & stream among themselves instead. Although rather competitive on the surface, Pokimane, Valkyrae & Corpse are also friendly players by self-confession. In fact, Pokimane stated in an Among Us stream with Toast & Co. how much he enjoyed the peace and quiet of the lobby.

Also, Poki has had issues with xQc’s Among Us gameplay before this. And he, along with a few of his lobby mates was a part of the tourney too. So, maybe personal issues may have also played a part in her choosing to opt-out of the tourney.

Bottomline of the Faze Among Us Tournament.

Finally, the question of availability & necessity also comes into play. To what extent did Faze clan NEED these creators & these creators want to be part of the event? Were they sent invites which they politely refused? Or did Faze Clan decide against including these personas because people like Toast can be a little too level-headed for drama?

One thing is for certain, the prize money did not play a part in any of these. Most of these creators are big enough to not bother about 12k or 25k. This was less of an out and out tourney, more of a celebration of sorts. So, whatever the reasons were which kept our favourite creators out of it, we hope to see them in future events of this sort. Fingers crossed!
