With the Indian Premier League all set to commence it’s eleventh edition, we are continuing it’s build up by re-visiting some key facts and figures that you may have not been aware of previously.

Is there a more frustrating feeling for a batsman than to get out without opening your account? It can infuriate the batsman to no end, to spend so much time preparing for the match, only to get a great ball or play a needless shot to throw your wicket away.

The IPL has had it’s fair share of ducks over time, with some players making an unfortunate habit of collecting them far more than the rest.

Here we look at five players who have scored the most ducks in IPL history!

Piyush Chawla – 11 times

Once the next big thing in Indian cricket, it is fair to say that Piyush Chawla’s career has not gone down the path that most people were expecting it to do so.

The leggie though has formed a pretty decent IPL career, as he established himself as a crucial part of the KKR setup. Chawla’s shining moment though came with the ball as opposed to a ball in hand, when he steered KKR to a thrilling win against KXIP in the 2014 final.

His batting talent was never in doubt, but that has not stopped Chawla from being dismissed eleven times for no score.

Manish Pandey – 11 times

Another former KKR star, Manish Pandey has also been dismissed a total of eleven times for no score his IPL career.

The classy right hander was the first Indian to score an IPL hundred, and is also fomdly remembered for playing a match-winning knock in the 2014 final against KXIP.

But with an IPL average in the late twenties, Pandey had not lived up to the expectations that people had of him early on. That being said, Pandey still has age on his side, which is why he could yet turn it around in the years to come.

Gautam Gambhir – 12 times

Gambhir’s entry makes it three former KKR players who make this unfortunate list, as the Delhi batsman has been dismissed twelve times without any score.

Gambhir was famously out for three consecutive ducks in the 2014 edition, before he managed to get things back on track and lead his side to their second IPL triumph in three years.

The legendary KKR captain has been one of the greatest players in the league history, and will now be looking to have a final flourish with his home town of Delhi.

Parthiv Patel – 12 times

The pint sized wicket-keeper batsman has played for six IPL franchises through out his IPL career, making Patel a bonafide journeyman in IPL history.

While he has always been a dependable player in the team, Patel has not managed to hold on to his spot, which explains his large number of previous employers.

Patel has been dismissed 12 times for no score, an unfortunate record to posses for the keeper-batsman.

Harbhajan Singh – 13 times

The legendary Mumbai Indians player has been dismissed for a duck on 13 separate occasions, making Bhajji the king of this dubious honour.

Bhajji has bagged 13 ducks in 84 innings. With a strike rate of 142.42, he has amassed a total of 799 runs in his IPL career.

He also has a highest score of 64, which came when his team needed him to strike a few lusty blows with the bat.
