Taking a look at alternative options to the Norwegian starlet
Although Chelsea’s admiration of Erling Haaland is well known and public property, the side’s pursuit of the striker remains a mystery. While a slew of outlets have touted the Premier League giants to break the bank for the Borussia Dortmund player, Chelsea are yet to open their cards.
Also, with a bevy of reports culminating that Haaland would be adverse to a move to Chelsea, the London based club might not end up indulging in the Norwegian wonderkid’s services after all. It would need Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich to turn their eyes to elsewhere in a bid to bolster Chelsea’s attacking line.
Although the club shelved out a healthy 50 million pounds only this season to rein in Timo Werner, the German hasn’t lived upto his potential. Also, with Tuchel not reposing massive faith in Tammy Abraham at the moment and Olivier Giroud nearing the tailend of his career, Chelsea are bound to dip their beak in the transfer window come this summer.
With the club having failed with a string of European names off late in the position, proven strikers in the league could be the most ideal way forward for the club. We take a look at five Premier League strikers Chelsea can consider persuading to join their ranks.
Patrick Bamford
Well versed with the land of the club, Bamford who previously failed to make the cut at Chelsea could end up tearing the pitch alight for the side in his second spell. He’s shown he has the mettle to impress in the league with him currently scoring on 13 occasions for Leeds United.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Taking his goal tally to 14 after netting against Burnley, the Everton striker showed why he’s held in such high stature. One of the most improved strikers in the league, the player has gone from strength to strength under Ancelotti’s tutelage.
Ollie Watkins
After breaking the bank for Watkins, it would remain to see if his employers are willing to let go off him after only his maiden season. However, given the manner in which he’s come up scorching strikes for the side, a call up from Chelsea could end up enticing him
Che Adams
He needed a year to settle into his groove at Southampton but Che Adams is finally showing what he’s capable of. He’s scored in three matches on the spin for the side, numbers which allude to his ability to spearhead the attack.
Callum Wilson
A player who has been on Chelsea’s radar previously as well, Wilson could be the ideal answer to Chelsea’s attacking woes. A proven name in the Premier League, Wilson’s ability to rifle his way past defences and clobber defences is well documented over the years.
