Julian will be taking over from Flick at the end of the season Bayern Munich have gone onto affirm
Ever since Hansi Flick had revealed that he would be stepping down from his post as Bayern Munich manager come the end of the season, all speculations were about who would take over. While Julian Nagelsmann was said to be Bayern Munich’s preferred choice, the club faced a tough battle to pry Julian away from RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig were said to be extremely unwilling to let go of their prized asset. Considered one of the most exciting and promising young managers in the international arena, Nagelsmann had over the last couple of years spearheaded RB Leipzig’s consummate success in the Bundesliga.
However, Bayern Munich are hardly denied what they want in the German league and the club got its wish yet again. The club took to its site on Tuesday to announce that it had agreed a deal with Nagelsmann as its next manager.
Nagelsmann’s Bayern Munich Contract
“FC Bayern have appointed Julian Nagelsmann as their new head coach,” a Bayern Munich statement read. “The Bavarian-born 33-year-old will move to Munich from RB Leipzig on July 1, 2021 ahead of the new season, signing a five-year-contract with the German record champions until June 30, 2026.”
Flick’s new contract sees Bayern Munich pay a compensation to RB Leipzig, one which is said to be a world record figure in excess of 15 million pounds. Nagelsmann has been handed over reins of the club for a five year period, a timeframe which shows the kind of faith the club reposes in him.
Nagelsmann, 33 is also said to have been in the reckoning for the Tottenham job but the manager is said to have preferred Bayern Munich. This will be his third club in the Bundesliga.
“I will leave RB Leipzig with a heavy heart. I’ve been able to coach a special team here at a club with huge opportunities and the best possible conditions to work in,” Nagelsmann said confirming his switch.
