Astralis fails to qualify for the last ever CS:GO Major

Legendary CS:GO roster, Astralis, has been knocked out of the BLAST Paris Major RMR. This marks the second major in a row that the team failed to qualify for. IEM Rio was the starting point for the roster rebuild, with the organization changing its coach. Soon after, the organization also brought in Dev1ce and Buzz, hoping to revitalize the team. Unfortunately, the curse continues as Astralis has now been eliminated from the BLAST Paris Major at the hands of NIP.

Ninjas in Pyjamas knock Astralis out of the BLAST Paris Major RMR

Astralis’ journey in the RMR has been far from comfortable. The ruthless bo1 and Buchholz system had the Danish squad on the back foot as they initially went 0-2 down. Their initial losses were handed to them by Vitality and Eternal Fire, sending them into the best-of-three gauntlet. From here, the Gla1ve-led squad needed to win three bo3s to qualify for the Major. Approaching their first hurdle in Team Spirit, they managed to triumph and extend their Major life by one more game.

In the 1-2 bracket, the Danish team found itself going up against Dev1ce’s former team Ninjas in Pyjamas. The AleksiB-led squad looked incredibly prepared from the start of the series, counter-stratting Gla1ve at every corner. Starting off with Astralis’ pick of Nuke, the Danes managed to pick up the pistol and the conversion. However, this was practically all that could be said of their T-side. Handing over just one more round in the half, NIP asserted their dominance with a 12-3 half. Much like the first half, Astralis only claimed the pistol and lost 16-4.

After a crushing loss, NIPs map pick of Vertigo looked even more daunting. Picking up where they left off, NIP started with a 5-0 streak. However, Astralis’ strong CT side helped them bounce back to make it a competitive 7-8 half in NIPs favor. Switching to the T side, Astralis’ weakness reared its head, as NIP repeatedly took map control away from them. After a bunch of great reads and flanks, NIP closed the game out 16-11, eliminating Astralis from the RMR.
