"Get out of the f**king way": Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes sledge Vernon Philander in Cape Town Test

Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes sledge Vernon Philander: The English pair didn’t seem very pleased with the veteran South African player.

During the fifth day of the second Test of the ongoing England’s tour of South Africa in Cape Town, England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler and all-rounder Ben Stokes were involved in a verbal battle with South Africa pacer Vernon Philander.

It all happened after the third delivery of the 127th over when Philander played a delivery from England spinner Dom Bess towards their captain Joe Root at mid-off.

Not wanting to sneak in a single, Philander stood at his batting position as Root threw the ball back to Buttler. Expecting Philander to get out of the way of the throw, Buttler couldn’t resist from passing some uncalled for comments to the 34-year old Proteas player. Soon, Stokes also joined Buttler from first slip.

The episode wasn’t seen getting elongated as Philander didn’t say much to Buttler. With a significant task up his sleeve, Philander continued to ensure that he plays the remaining overs on Day 5 to save the Test for the hosts.

Chasing a 438-run target, South Africa started well but have sort of lost their way in the last session. The enthralling match requires the home team to bat nearly 12 overs. Having said that, them only having a lone wicket with them is their biggest concern.
