Romain Grosjean has suffered a massive setback, as he has been disqualified from the Italian GP, because his car wasn’t considered within technical regulations by the stewards.

The compliant/protest had been initiated by Renault and the stewards had investigated the floor of Grosjean’s car.

Haas do have the right to appeal, but at the moment, Grosjean stands disqualified from the Italian GP.

Here’s the initial statement that was issued by the stewards.

“The reference plane of car number 08 is found not to be in compliance with Article 3.7.1 d) and the clarifications given in TD/033-18 published on 25 July 2018,” said the FIA.

“The surface formed by all parts lying on the reference plane must have a 50mm radius (+/-2mm) on each front corner when viewed from directly beneath the car, this being applied after the surface has been defined.” they added.

As a result of this decision Sirotkin will now score his first point of the season and Haas will be demoted to the 5th spot in the consturctor’s championship, one place behind Renault.

Now, did Haas use the same spec for some earlier races?

Sergio Perez will now move into the 6th spot and Grosjean would be devastated about the late action on his car, as he had been great all through the weekend, driving out of his skin to get that result at Monza.

It would be interesting to see how much Grosjean knew about the floor specs and the entire technical regulation issue.
