Harry Kane denies diving in a post-match interview only to be shown his embarrassing replay immediately after the derby against Arsenal.
Arsenal and Tottenham share a fierce rivalry and it was on full display during the North London derby between the two sides. Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen led Tottenham’s charge as they gave the Lilywhites a 2-0 lead over their arch rivals. However, the Gunners scored two goals through Lacazette and Aubameyang to draw the match.

Arsenal had their chances to script a magnificent come from behind victory over Spurs but were not clinical enough. Therefore, both teams walked away with a point each. Which is probably the right result anyway considering the thriller they put forth.
The talking point of the match however, was Harry Kane. Not for his footballing performance but for his not so Oscar worthy acting. The English striker had a penalty waved off after he went down from a challenge from Sokratis. However, replays showed that he had attempted to initiate contact by putting himself between the ball and the defender.
Nothing came off it as Kane walked away scot free. It just goes to show how inconsistent the refereeing is when Manchester United’s Daniel James gets booked for simulation twice yet no penalty is laid upon the Spurs striker.
Harry Kane denies diving in a post-match interview only to be shown his embarrassing replay immediately
Harry vehemently denied diving and even did so during his post-match interview on Sky Sports with Geoff Shreeves. Shreeves asked Kane if he thought it was a penalty. To which he replied:
“I think so. Obviously I’ll have to watch it back.”
Embarrassingly for him, they immediately played the replay back for him wherein it was obvious that he had fallen on his own.

However, Kane still denied the charge saying:
“I think he makes a tired tackle. I think if I’m on the halfway I get it but when you’re in the box, it’s 50/50.”
Talk about lying through one’s teeth.
