The backstage politics between the lead figures at SmackDown continues, as Comissioner Shane McMahon has voiced his displeasure over the main event of Fastlane and has decided to twist things up a little.

In a tweet, Shane McMahon has declared that the winner of the match between the returning Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin will now be for the fourth spot in the Fatal-4-way match for the WWE Championship match at Fastlane.

Both of these stars come after a highly interesting Royal Rumble. Baron Corbin was eliminated quicker than most people anticipated and the “Lone Wolf” took it out on the superstars present in the ring, before the officials took him out of the way to avoid any further damage.

Whereas Dolph Ziggler, who was one of the favourites to win the event as per betting odds, returned at No.30 much to everyone’s surprise. But, “The Showoff” did not last much in the ring and was eliminated shortly after.

Dolph Ziggler was last seen on the edition of SmackDown after Clash of Champions, where he won the United States Championship. Ziggler walked away after relinquishing the title without any update on his future.

This won’t be the first time that the duo face-off, Corbin had a lengthy feud with Ziggler after Wrestlemania 32. But, the stakes would be much higher in this case with a potential shot for the WWE Championship in sight.

In the previous year, Corbin had a shot to win the prestigious title, having won the Money in the Bank ladder match, but his attempt was sabotaged by John Cena, which left Corbin with the likes of John Cena and Damien Sandow as stars to have an unsuccessful cash-in.

The winner of the match will face the champion AJ Styles , “The Prizefighter” Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a bid to win the title with a clash against Royal Rumble 2018 winner Shinsuke Nakamura on the horizon.

In truth, anything other than a Styles victory will come as a huge shock to everyone, with a mouth-watering feud against Nakamura already exciting the WWE Universe.
