IPL’s full schedule to release post election schedule: BCCI have issued a confirmation on the full schedule of IPL 2019.

The IPL 2019 will the first time in the 12-year old history of the tournament that its schedule will be made public in parts. The schedule for the first 17 matches was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India around a couple of weeks ago.

Speaking during the press conference to announce Tata Motors’ Harrier as the IPL’s official partner, Acting Secretary of BCCI Amitabh Choudhary opened up about the schedule for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League.

BCCI waiting for election schedule

Laying emphasis on the General Elections overlapping with the cricket tournament, Choudhary talked about efforts being made to be in dialogue with various government agencies. Perhaps, the release of schedule in parts is a ramification of the tournament being played in the country in such times.

“It’s very clear that though the General Elections will overlap with the IPL, we have decided to keep the IPL within the territory of India. Having said that, efforts have been made to be in dialogue with various government agencies and there is a general agreement to that fact,” Choudhary was quoted as saying.

Choudhary also gave assurance that the full IPL schedule of the tournament will be announced after the release of the election schedule. “Once the election schedule is announced, we will know which areas or states are going into elections in which phases. Accordingly, thereafter, we will announce the IPL schedule,” he said.

IPL 2019 is slated to commence on March 23. The season opener will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai.

While all other franchise will play four matches in the first leg, RCB and Delhi Capitals will be seen playing an extra match than their counterparts. Bangalore will play their extra match away. Whereas, Capitals will be seen hosting a third match in this slab.
