IPL Auction to be held on December 18

IPL Auction to be held on December 18: The auction date ahead of the upcoming season of the IPL has been finalized.

In a development which will be of a great interest for a majority of India’s population, the auction ahead of the next season of the IPL (Indian Premier League) will be held on December 18 in Jaipur.

Several rumors regarding the same had been doing the rounds in the last month or so. However, with BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) issuing an official confirmation now, fans would be looking forward to the same.

It is worth mentioning that it is the first time that the auction is not being held in Bengaluru. Earlier, it was reported that the grand process will be held in Goa in the third week of December. That being said, the proceedings will move to Jaipur (another reported venue for the auction) now.

In which will be a one-day event, it is highly likely to fill a total of 70 slots. In the auction this time, a maximum of 50 Indian players and 20 overseas players allowed to be picked.

In which is not a mega auction, it will witness franchises filling the required voids in their side. Having said that, franchises like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab will have to build an almost new squad for they had earlier released most of their players.

Post releasing 11 players from their squad, Punjab have the maximum amount left in their purse. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are left with INR 8.4 crores in their bank. Apart from KXIP, Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are also expected to be busy on the given day.

With December 18 being a week day (Tuesday) and the fifth day of the second Test match between Australia and India also falling on the same day, expect the auction to be a prime time affair.
