The Slim Reaper has been out for two games and the Brooklyn Nets, who hold the record for the longest winning streak this season, are now 0-2 without the 6-foot-10-inch assassin. And we are here with a Kevin Durant injury update for tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

But let’s drill down to how Kyrie Irving and Co. did without the Slim Reaper in the two games.
The first game was against the #1 team in the East, whom the Nets welcomed with full strength, except for KD. The Celtics were also without Jaylen Brown but were the far more capable team on both ends. The nets lost the game 98-109.
The second one, which was against the traveling OKC Thunder, visiting Brooklyn for a back-to-back game, was on the platter for Uncle Drew to put on a show. However, the young guns from Oklahoma humbled the 2016 NBA champ and ran away with a 112-102 victory.
Now the Nets are on the road to face San Antonio to face a 13-31 team searching for a win, will their superstar forward be available to lead them back to winning ways?
Kevin Durant injury update for the game against the Spurs
On the verge of losing 3-straight games, the Nets face the Spurs, who themselves are on a 5-game losing streak. Now, whether the 2x Finals MVP plays tonight is the question fans want to know.
The answer to that will be no. Kevin Durant will not play against the Spurs.
Late to this but here’s some good news: Ben Simmons is not listed on the Nets’ injury report ahead of tomorrows game vs. Spurs.
Durant (right knee – MCL sprain) – OUT
Duke Jr. (G League – two-way) – OUT
Edwards (G League assignment) – OUT
Smith (G League – two-way) – OUT

Having sprained his MCL in the game against the Miami Heat on January 8th, as Jimmy Butler fell on his leg, it might take a month more for Durant to come back.
How important is this game against the Spurs?
As we are just over a month away from the All-Star weekend, every team would want to gather as many Ws as they can and the Nets would definitely want to get the one tonight as they do have something on stake.
With a 27-15 record, they are 4.5 games behind the Celtics (#1 seed) and just .5 games ahead of the Cavaliers (#5 seed). The Heat (#7 seed) have 24 wins and the Bulls (#10 seed) have 20, which shows how tight it could get down the line.
With Irving and Simmons both playing tonight, the Nets should get it done in a comprehensive fashion and make a statement before Thursday’s game against the Suns.
