The Chelsea player is eager to step out for his country
Currently involved with USA for their upcoming set of FIFA friendlies, Christian Pulisic already has his eyes set of the future.
Pulisic Talks About Olympics’ Dream
With the Olympics slated for the upcoming summer, Pulisic has revealed he has aspirations to paly for his country in the marquee event. However, the 22 year old USMNT player also admitted that the decision was ultimately out of his hands with Chelsea set to determine his participation.
“It’s something I’ve thought about and have wanted to play in,” Pulisic said. “Obviously, I can’t control what goes on. What’s best for me at the time and what’s best for the team at the time, I obviously can’t say. But it is something that I would like to play in.”
Pulisic also spoke about his current struggles at Chelsea. After a solid first season at the club, he’s failed to get up and running in his second term.
“I was in a similar situation I think when I first came to Chelsea, so I had to work my way and earn my position in the team and to finally get some minutes. I feel like I did that, and yeah I feel like I’m basically going after and trying to do the same thing now. I feel very confident in my form right now and the way I’m feeling and playing,” he added.
Pulisic who has already played for his country on 34 occasions could be asked to make a tricky decision this summer. With CONCAF’s Gold Cup also scheduled for the summer, Chelsea could end up giving Pulisic permission to only play in either the Olympics or Gold Cup.
Pulisic is well within the age limit for the Olympics with the stipulated age limit being increased to 24 from the earlier set 23. The player will be looking to rediscover his touch when he steps out for the USMNT on Thursday.
