Joao Felix: Man Utd take decision over European prodigy's transfer as Benfica seek £150 million

Joao Felix is wanted by Ole Gunnar at Manchester United, but the price tag is the huge stumbling block.

Joao Felix has been wanted by the majority of the European sides, with half not being able to cough up £150 million, the fixed price tag. Benfica have produced plenty of talents in recent years, but the Portuguese International is having a high ceiling over other young stars.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is attracted by the prospect of landing Joao Felix in the summer transfer window, but the price tag has put them off, according to the Evening Standard. Even though the price is deemed to be £150 million, an offer around £100 million should suffice to lure him away from Portugal.

Should the price come down by £50 million, the Red Devils won’t be able to spend that much amount on a single player as there is a room for improvement in many departments this summer. Manchester City are the other side to check on Joao Felix, but the price tag is deemed ridiculous by United’s rivals as well.

Solskjaer is desperate to ameliorate the right wing position and the transfer targets are looking out of reach because of the lack of Champions League football. Jadon Sancho has spoken about the importance to stay and develop further at Borussia Dortmund. Besides, he has a thought that the club is going to be in a further muddle state in the forthcoming years.

United were also keeping an eye on Matthijs De Ligt, but they feel that that the teenager’s move is getting closer to Barcelona. There have been no reported targets and it will be a tough summer window for United to get back on track again.

Here’s how Twitter reacted..

What’s next?

Manchester United will directly qualify to the Europa League group stages as their noisy neighbours Manchester City mauled Watford in the FA Cup finals. This will not hamper in the preparations during the pre-season camp which Solskjaer regards as vital for the next season.
