Jose Mourinho makes tactical substitution before half-time while Spurs losing 2-0

Jose Mourinho makes tactical substitution while his side was losing 2-0 against Olympiacos only to win the game by 4-2 in the end.

Tottenham Hotspur was playing against Olympiacos in the fifth round of the Champions League group stages and this event was supposed to be special as Jose Mourinho returned to the Premier League with his new side.

But Mourinho did not have an easy welcome at the grandest stage of Europen football as his side was on the verge of losing after his side conceded two goals before the 20th minute of the game.

So, the Portuguese manager pulls a gamble and makes a rare tactical substitution in the 29th minute of the game by replacing Eric Dier with Christian Eriksen in order to fetch something from the tie.

Spurs were playing in a defensive formation with Harry Winks and Dier in midfield but after the failure of this plan, Mourinho decided to be aggressive and thus brought the Danish midfielder.

Fortunately, the later implementation by Mourinho worked out as the North London club managed to score past 4 goals to win the game against the visitors.

Tottenham Hotspurs managed to get its first break with Dele Alli’s goal, The English midfielder found himself unmarked at the back post and halved the deficit.

They drew level just after half-time, with Kane notching five minutes after the break and  Spurs would win it with two late goals. Serge Aurier gave Spurs the lead in the 73rd minute with a brilliant drive before Kane made the three points safe four minutes later.

With this Spurs have sealed their qualification into the next round but as it was clear before this match, they have ended 2nd in the group and would face tough opposition in the round of 16 matches.
